Pre-Team
Avalon offers a Pre-Team program for those who may not be quite ready to join team. This program offers more hands-on instruction with the coaches to help swimmers gain confidence to swim independently.
To join Pre-Team, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Must be at least 4 years old.
- Must be comfortable in the water.
- Must demonstrate the ability to make the width of the pool with basic freestyle skills (face in, basic signs of rotary breathing, arms over the water and kicking) unassisted.
- Must also display the ability to float/kick on your back.

It is at the discretion of the coaches whether Pre-Team is the appropriate placement for each swimmer. As Pre-Team is the bridge to the regular swim team, Pre-Team, will be participating in the last meet of the season (a home meet).
If a swimmer is not ready for Pre-Team, Avalon offers some great options for private and group lessons for swim instruction.
