2022 Summer Swim Season Registration is LIVE

April 12, 2022

Hi Gators!

We are excited for the 2022 Swim season to begin! We want to welcome Tim Dolan back as head coach and Elyse Cram as assistant coach this year. We also want to extend a warm welcome to our new assistant coaches Rachel Garland & Elliott Whelan who are not strangers to Avalon. Both Rachel & Elliott got their start as swimmers right here at Avalon and they have each had great careers as swimmers outside of our club.

We are ready for everyone to start registering for our 2022 Summer Swim Team season. Please visit Swimtopia at https://avalongators.swimtopia.com/ and register your Gator swimmer(s) today. If you are new to Avalon, you will need to create a new account on the Swimtopia site by also clicking on the above link and then you will be able to register your swimmer(s).

The price for registration for swim team is $120 for the first swimmer, $120 for the second swimmer, and $110 for each additional swimmer in a family. Swimmers ages 15-17 will be $95 and graduating seniors will be $25. Credit card payment is preferred but checks may also be dropped off to the pool once it is open.

**NEW THIS YEAR** For the safety of your kids, if your swimmer is 8 & under and has never participated in a formal swim team, summer or year around, they will be asked to attend an evaluation session so that the coaches can properly place your child in the correct program (Team, Pre-Team or Lessons). Evaluations will be held on Saturday, May 21st at NOVA Regency at 12:30 p.m. If you cannot attend this date, you can make arrangements with the head coach. Please use this link to sign-up for evaluations.

**PRE-TEAM REGISTRATION** To sign-up for Pre-Team, please use the following link to register. Payments for pre-team can be mailed or dropped off at the office once the pool is open for the season.

Pre-Team Registration Form

Pre-Season practice will begin on Monday, May 23rd and practices for regular season will start on Monday, June 20th. Tentative practice schedules are posted online.

Meets will be held on June 12th, 20th & 27th and July 5th, 11th, & 18th. Champs will be held at NOVA Regency on Wednesday, July 27th. We are asking each swimmer to commit to a minimum of 3 meets this season but the coaches encourage you to attend as many meets as possible.

Each swimmer will have to fill out a waiver on the JRAC website. A waiver must be completed before you can participate in your first meet. Please click on this link to fill out and complete the waiver. JRAC 2022 Waiver

It truly takes a village to run a meet. This year we are asking each family to volunteer 3 shifts per swimmer with no more than 4 shifts max per family. You will be able to sign-up for volunteer positions during registration. There are some volunteer positions that require training. JRAC will be holding training in-person and on zoom this year. If you are interested in training for a special position, please contact our volunteer coordinators Barbara Arcarese or Marie Raval.

Please join us at our open house on May 1st from 2-4 p.m. to learn more about our season. We will continue to use our fun team suit from last year, but if you need to be sized for a new suit, Virginia Swim Shop will be there to help us with fittings. Team suits, caps (personalized & non-personalized) and other swim necessities will be available for purchase. If you would like a personalized cap, please let us know as soon as possible. The orders for those are due in early May. You can email Patty at pkoh0201@aol.com with the name you would like on the cap.

We are looking forward to a fun swim season! Be on the lookout for emails with information regarding this season.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need any further information.

We look forward to seeing all of you very soon!

Patty Chang & Carrie Banks
