Swim Team Update - Week 2
Good Evening Parents!
We are gearing up for our second week of practices. Here is a little note from Coach Ryan:
"We had a good first week - looking forward to week 2. The weather should be a bit warmer. Please continue to introduce yourselves to the coaches as we continue to learn names and families. Less than 2 weeks to the first meet!!"
Speaking of the first meet. We are less than 2 weeks away from our first meet which will be on Sunday, June 11th. We will be swimming Ridgetop @ Avalon. Warm-ups will begin at 2 p.m. and the meet will start at 3 p.m. To help the coaches prepare for this meet, please go online an declare whether or not you will be attending the meet. You can do this by:
1. Going to the main swim team page https://avalongators.swimtopia.com/
2. On the bottom right hand side you will see "Next Meet", You will see our next meet and you will see a button that says "Meet Entry Open".
3. Click on "Meet Entry Open". You will see the name of your child(ren). Under each child, you will see pull down options. Please select either "Attending this Meet" or "Not attending this meet"
You will need to do this for every meet this summer. If you already know your schedule, you can click on the "Calendar" page and all the meets for the season will be listed and you can make your declaration. If you do not make a declaration, the coaches will assume you will NOT be swimming and will exclude you from the meet. Please make sure you make your declaration for the first meet by Tuesday, June 6th. After this date, we will be closing the meet.
Additionally, if you signed up for a trained volunteer position, training classes will begin this week. Please check the schedule using this link http://www.jracsummerswim.org/swim-clinic-schedule...
Please note, all in-person training will be held in the Hill Building located 501 Beulah Road, Sandston, VA 23150. All training will last one hour.
Lastly, we will hold a parent meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6th @ 5 p.m. at the pool. The parent reps will go over things you may need to know this season and answer any questions that you may have about swim team. If you are new to team this year, we highly suggest you attend this meeting.
Looking forward to another great (and hopefully warmer) week!
Patty & Carrie
