Jenifer and I have had so much fun being parent reps for the swim team again this year. It has been a fun season, and our families really enjoy all the Avalon families we get to know each summer.

We would like to thank all of the coaches and volunteers that help with the swim team. Avalon had a great trip to JRAC Champs this year. We won the Sportsmanship award (selected by other teams in our division) for the second year in a row. We placed 5th overall and broke several records!! A huge shout out to Zachary Cram, Matthew Whelan, Spencer Steadman, Willow Clark, and Cristina Muncy who helped break records and set an outstanding example for all of our swimmers.

Thank you to everyone who submitted a response to the swim team survey. We have a long list of some great ideas for improving swim team for next year. We will also use the input we received as we start looking for a new coach for next summer.

It really takes a village of parents. To make the swim team work efficiently (and remember we have about 190+ swimmers), we need volunteers in a lot of areas outside of the swim meets. Jenifer and I are willing to help be the parent reps again for next season, but we are looking for someone to possibly shadow us next year with the intent of being a parent rep in the future. For the 2017 season, we also need 2 parents who are willing to be JRAC representatives for Avalon (perk- you get a parking pass to Champs for both days!), 1-2 people to help with Mite Mom/Dad duties, and 1-2 people to shadow the Volunteer Coordinators. These positions are crucial to keeping the swim team running smoothly. We would love help from some Dads too!!

We also are recruiting for people to be trained in Strokes and Turns, Clerk of Course, and Computer positions for swim meets. This requires you to go to a training in the Spring and possibly shadow another volunteer during the swim meets.

We are happy to give you any details or answer questions about what each position entails. Several of you indicated in the survey that you would be open to helping out. Please email me if you are willing to help and let me know what you may be able to help with.
