Avalon Swim Team Survey End of Season- please read
We hope you had a fun summer and that your swimmers became more confident in the water. At the end of last season, we sent out a survey to get input on the swim team and the coaching staff. Based on the information we received, we worked hard to try to implement some of the suggestions that were made and actively address some of the areas of concern. You may have noticed some of the changes including more opportunities for swimmer recognition, continuing our fundraising events to support the team, perks for Senior Swimmers, more social activities, and new Spirit Wear options. We also used the feedback to guide us when we were interviewing for our coaching positions, and we made more hands-on instruction for swimmers and focus on technique a high priority. We feel like this has been a great season, and we hope you do too!
Please help us by completing an online survey for the 2017 season. All information is confidential and will be used to make decisions for next season. Here is the survey link:

With all that being said, Jenifer Cryer and I have decided that the 2018 season will be our last season as Parent Reps and overall organizers of the swim team. We have enjoyed doing this job the past 3 summers and feel like a 4 year stint is appropriate. We would LOVE two willing parents to volunteer to “shadow" under us next Spring and Summer to learn the ropes and so we can guide you through the process of planning the swim season. We have learned a lot and are happy to share it with you. The Avalon Swim Team is not a one person job. We have a fantastic group of parents who support us in many ways (social events, volunteers, spirit wear, JRAC reps) and it shows in how smoothly things run for a team our size.
If you are willing to help volunteer for a trained position or help in the organization of the swim team, PLEASE send either Jenifer or I an email or put your name on the survey so we know you would like to help. A few of our volunteers in trained positions (Strokes and Turns, Referee) have served for several years, and it is time that new volunteers with younger swimmers step up to support these areas. If you like to be up close to the action and/or have any knowledge or interest in the sport of swimming, these areas may be a great place for you to get involved. They require attending 1 training session (about 1 hour) each Spring. Please consider helping in this way as it is not fair to always rely on the same few parents and our swim meets cannot happen without trained volunteers in these roles.
Thank you for all of your support and for a fun season!
Amanda and Jenifer
