Updates for Week 8
Hi all,
I’m here with a few updates for the week!
I did not mention in my weekly newsletter that this is the last week of normal practice. We will hold normal practice times the rest of this week, as well as our normal Monday morning practice, and fun practice on Tuesday next week. There will be an email coming out very soon with more information regarding the final weeks of the season and champs information.
That being said, next Thursday begins Champs practices. Champs practices are from 9-11 am, and 4-6 pm. We will not hold swim practice on Wednesday next week because the coaches will be seeding the Champs meet. Your swimmer will only attend these practices if they have a champs cut. A good way to find out if your swimmer has a champs cut is using the JRAC website. Click the link attached, select “League Rankings”, then your child’s age group. You can find their name under each individual event, and it should show “QUA” if they are qualified. R, X, and XX are also Champs qualified. Here is the link (http://www.jracsummerswim.org). I’m also happy to pull up your swimmer’s top times for the season, and I can let you know if they are qualified as well. Just let Wil or I know!
The meet result file just got sent to Wil and I, due to a technical issue. We are downloading and getting that information ready so we can send to you all ASAP. I’m sorry we couldn’t get the results out tonight, with time improvements! We did win the swim meet :) Thank you to all our volunteers, parents, and swimmers for another great meet! Avalon scored 1805, and Walton Park scored 706. The team did AMAZING and we saw some great races and team spirit. We are so proud!!!!
Friday morning practice will include sign making for the Westwood meet. We’ll provide the posters and markers, so we can decorate the pool deck with our Avalon spirit! Please be sure to declare for the Westwood meet ASAP. This is our last meet, and it's at home. The meet will be a close one, and we need everyone that we can get. The Westwood meet will include Senior Night and Pre-Team races as well. It will be a super fun end to the season!!
Stay tuned for Patty Chang’s email with information regarding the end of the season, as well as the meet results email from either me or Wil. Thank you all for being so patient! As much as I am feeling sad that this is our last normal week of the season, I feel so grateful to have coached this team. We are all lucky to have such a close, spirited, and supportive team. As the season comes to a close, I’m excited to celebrate each swimmer’s accomplishments from this summer!
Have a great night!
-Leslie
