For those of you swimming in the swim meet: PLEASE read thoroughly Patty’s email about meet details for tomorrow. Here are some of the highlights that I want to emphasize. Warmups will be from 5:15 to 5:30 for Avalon swimmers. Please be on deck at 5 to prepare for warm-ups. The meet is ONE SESSION. This means that the events will go in numerical order. Please have your swimmers pay attention, and abide by our meet expectations that I sent out last week. Avalon swimmers did an AMAZING job being respectful and considerate in the clerk of course area during the CCV meet. This week, the clerk of course is in the baby pool area. I expect that our swimmers will behave the same way despite the location change. The meet starts at 6 pm, so please check in before then. I hope to see everyone ready to race and in their neon tomorrow!
We will have fun practice this Tuesday, June 22nd. There will be ribbons, Gator of the Week/Spirit Award, and popsicles! We hope to see everyone there that can make it. For safety purposes, we are going to take a break from water polo. Last week, there were too many injuries, and the last thing we want is to see our swimmers getting hurt.
Avalon is also holding a spirit day at Chick-Fil-A on Parham Rd on Tuesday, June 22nd. I encourage everyone to go support Avalon and purchase a meal (10/10 recommend the frozen lemonade too). Be sure to mention Avalon so we receive some of the money from the fundraising!
Our 3rd swim meet will be on June 28th against Kanawha. This is an away meet. Just a reminder to declare for the meet by Wednesday, June 23rd at 7 pm. As you all can tell from the meet score from CCV, having a few extra swimmers can decide whether or not we win a swim meet. We want all the swimmers we can get on deck for this meet! I encourage everyone that is possibly able to swim to RSVP yes to the meet :)
That’s all for now! I know it’s super late so I can imagine I’m forgetting something, so stay tuned for a follow-up email sometime this week with any other important reminders/information!
Thank you so much! We’re looking forward to a great week!
