GATOR NEWSLETTER: WEEK 4

    HAPPY WEEK 4!

Congratulations on our first meet! We want to thank all of the parents and volunteers for making the meet happen last night. We know there’s a lot of work that happens behind the scenes to make a swim meet run smoothly, so we appreciate everything you all do :) We are SO PROUD of all of our swimmers who swam last night! We saw some amazing wins from every lane, and super fast swimming! However, what we are most proud of was the sportsmanship and respect happening behind the blocks and in clerk of course. Also, with a cheer squad behind the lanes throughout the entire meet, there’s no doubt that our team leads in spirit.

We have some meet results! We will send out the individual results in a follow-up email. Time drops and ribbons will be announced tomorrow at practice. The meet came down to the very last events, and the score was close all night. Avalon ended up losing by about 50 points. Avalon scored 1,282.50 points, and CCV scored 1,331.50. Despite a close loss, we are still so proud of all of our swimmers and their efforts last night. The close score is a good example of how every swimmer matters in these meets. We really want to encourage everyone to swim in the upcoming meets if you are able to.

An Avalon record was broken last night!! Congrats to Jamie Arcarese for breaking the 9-10 50 butterfly record!

Please send us any photos you have from the swim meet if you want them to be featured on our team's Instagram! Follow us @avalon.gators.

We have fun practice Tuesday night at the pool! We will do the ribbon ceremony, and play games at practice to celebrate our hard work in the meet. We may even have a sweet surprise tomorrow! We will also announce our swimmers of the week tomorrow and our spirit award from the swim meet.

Our 2nd swim meet will be on June 21st against Southampton. This is a home meet. Just a reminder to declare for the meet by Thursday June 17th at 7 pm. I strongly encourage you all to do this by then, because we seed the meet Thursday and need to know who is participating and who is not. If your child is not swimming in the meet, RSVP “No”. If you don’t declare your swimmer, we will not put them in the swim meet. This will be our policy for meet participation moving forward :)

Pre-team evaluations are this Thursday, June 17th at 3:00 pm. Please bring your child to the pool to be evaluated if you are interested in pre-team. We will make these decisions and let you all know if they are ready for Pre-team as soon as possible after the evaluation.

Lastly, this is the last week of preseason! The normal practice schedule begins next Monday. Practice times are on the website under “About Us” and “Practice Schedule”. As always, email/call us with any questions/comments/concerns!

Thank you so much! We’re looking forward to a great week!
