ARA @ SRA tomorrow Sunday June 10th

    Good Evening Everyone,

Hope everyone is looking forward to tomorrow's first meet of the season. Our kids have been working hard on free and back, as well as starts, turns, and finishes to race ready for tomorrow!

Attached you will find Meet Entries by Name. Again just to clarify, the novice events for this week are Free and Back, so the majority of the team will be swimming those events. If there are any issues, please let me know ASAP. If there are any last minute dropouts, again please let me know ASAP.

Due to the new rule in the league that requires a "no show" list to be turned into the head table 30 minutes before the meet starts, please plan to arrive at SRA around 2pm. Please go directly to our volunteer check-in tables (mites have a designated check-in). If you are not checked in you will be put on the no show list, and your cards will be removed from your events. Earlier we know who is present or missing, the better. This will not apply to those of you who have already contacted me about a different arrival time. If your arrival time has changed due to conflicts since you've RSVP'd, please let me know immediately.

Warm ups will be from 2:30-2:45. Mites will be from 2:30-2:35; Midgets and up from 2:35-2:45. The meet is slated to start at 3pm. I know all of you have been paying attention to the weather. There is only so much we can do in the time leading up to the meet. Per league rules, if there is a weather delay, we are required to wait at least 1 hour from the call time to make a decision about moving forward. We ask you all to remain at SRA (safely) until a decision has been reached.

Below, you will find some notes from the parents at SRA for the meet tomorrow.

The Southampton Swordfish are looking forward to hosting Avalon for the first swim meet of the season on Sunday, June 10th. We want to share some helpful information to prepare for a great meet:

Timing: The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00. SRA warm-ups are at 2:15 followed by Avalon warm-ups at 2:30.

Parking: Our address is 3201 Chellowe Rd, Richmond, VA 23225. Parking spaces are limited in our pool lot. Additional parking is located nearby at the baseball field and Southampton Elementary School on Prairie St. Please honor all "No Parking" signs. Parking is only allowed on one side of the street in the neighborhood and towing by the city is enforced. A "No Parking" sign on one side means no parking on that side for the entire length of the street.

Seating: Our visitors sit in the area on the short side of the pool next to the tennis courts. You can access this area over the steps/balcony just left of the pool gate. The seating is a grassy, tiered area. We recommend chairs and blankets.

Competition Pool Area: Only swimmers and meet workers are permitted inside the fence around the competition pool. This area will get very congested if spectators wander down to the pool area.

Clerk of Course: Swimmers called to the Clerk of Course will report to the area in front of the baby pools near the restrooms. There will be a table set up in the spectator area for your swimmers to pick up their cards from your volunteers. Parents can accompany their children until they are called individually to line up by the Clerk of Course. Parents are not allowed to accompany children once they are seated on the Clerk of Course benches or to the blocks.

Food: We will have various offerings around the SRA grounds to satisfy any palate! Swordfish Café will have fruit (available with peanut butter or Nutella), small & large garden salad with chicken, small & large pasta with chicken, chips and guacamole, salsa or nacho cheese. The "Freekin' Rican" cart will have a tropical fruit bowl, slow roasted chicken or

pork in a quesadilla, burrito or as a meal with rice, beans, and plantains. For sweets, we'll have the King of Pops cart as well as Hershey's Ice

Cream and Island Way Sorbet. Our guest vendors accept credit cards or cash, and the Swordfish Café takes cash or check. Southampton will provide meal vouchers for coaches dinners.

Safety: Once the meet starts, swimmers and their siblings are not allowed in the lower pool, on the slide, on the tennis courts or playground.

    Good Gators!
